I now think I might like the first 1,600 words of my novel. I’m not sure, I just think, maybe.

I’ll know after group tonight.

I am a would be, wanna be, wish I was writer. Young adult, specifically.
This is the place I keep the things I love, as most do. The things that make me laugh, inspire me, and, most importantly, keep me writing.
I am a procrastinator, a nerdfighter, and a coffee addicted receptionist.
I now think I might like the first 1,600 words of my novel. I’m not sure, I just think, maybe.

I’ll know after group tonight.
@9 months agoWas such a good group. Some of my favorite writers were there. And some of my overall favorite people.
I came in with my post apocalyptic novel and didn’t feel to great about it. But, WOW. Is everyone super sportive. They all said the story was captivating. And in 1,300 words I really added “so many layers” to the world already.
I would say, they had mostly good things to say. The negatives were primarily grammar and spelling, which I expected as it was a stream of consciousness sort of piece.
I so much loved the feedback they gave me, and I now think I’ll post a bit of the story here later today.

Finding Sarah by Nancy DeMarco
Sara Morgan sees herself as an outcast with no hope of a normal life. Her best friend is her horse, and her only dream is to ride at Rolex, the most prestigious equestrian event in the United States.
Reaching her goal would be difficult enough if she were normal, but twenty-five-year-old Sara is anything but. She’s been in a mental hospital, she hears voices in her head, and she has no memory of mowing down her abusive ex-husband with a truck. Under the watchful eyes of her father and legal guardian, Sara attempts to build a life of her own.
Enter Paul, a geeky software engineer who collects yogurt cups and plastic bags. Short, bald, and a bit of a nerd, he’s never had a girlfriend, and falls for Sara in a big way. With the help of Cassie, Sara’s pushy friend from college, Sara and Paul sort out the awkward, confusing and often amusing trials of new love.
In this funny and frightening story of courage and hope, Sara walks a dangerous path. Unaware that an awful secret hides in her dreams she might just be a danger to herself and others. Her life is a lie, and not everyone is on her side.
Showing some love to a fellow writer. Nancy is one of my friends in the writers group I belong to. She is an amazing writer, beyond amazing really. This isn’t YA, but she is a seamless writer and I can’t wait to read this one!
Bonus: I signed as her witness for her writers contract, so this was technically the first book deal I signed. Ha!
Means writers group tonight.
Best fucking day of the week.

Because it’s my birthday! This isn’t a self indulgent post trying to get my friends and followers on here to wish me a happy birthday. This is a post about a resolution for my new year.
I started my dystopian about seven months ago. It is coming along very well. (42k if you remeber) I think by this time next year I’m going to have the novel out for submissions. I don’t think that’s a lofty goal. Honestly it scares the hell out of me to submit, even just the idea. But i’m going to do it. Hold me to that.
Oh, I blog guys. Also for my new year I’m going to (hopefully) start posting regularly. Mostly about writing and book reviews, but a little about life will seep in. Feel free to check it out.
Now I’m off to bake cupcakes.
@1 year agoCreativity. Why have you left me?
@1 year ago with 12 notesDay Nine: Have you told anyone that you are doing NaNoWriMo? How did they react?
I told my writers group, mainly because a few of them were talking about it. My friend sometimes reads my tumblr, I’ll assume she knows. No one really reacted in a way that stands out.
@1 year ago with 16 notesBanging right through this editing. Ed Sheeran has been a huge help. I’ve cut out a good chunk of words which was needed as this short story was getting closer to novella status. I’m going to bring in a few copies of this bad boy to group tonight to pass out. Hopefully some of my writing buddies will be willing to help me with final edits.
Also, I’m going to eat a cheese burger and buy Unwind to celebrate.

Have my super happy totally upbeat (not at all, it’s tragic) short story edited and the revised draft sent out to my writers group for final edits.
Also, I’m really angry that today is the day I forget my headphones in the car. The same day the guy with cold and a preferably to making that horrible “snngh” noise instead of just blowing his damn nose.
You sir, will end up in my novel. And I might just break that damn thing.
@11 months agoIts my writers group night. It’s the day I get to refill my Starbucks card.
I’m bringing in the middle part of my story. I’m getting an iced white mocha.

Having a good night at writers group and stuffing my face with Chinese food.

Downside: They said my MC sounds whinny. (They were all guys and called it girl whinny.)

Updated my blog, going to start doing that weekly. Like a weekly review for those who like longer posts.
Writers group was fun. I didn’t show what I wanted to, because what I wanted to show wasn’t ready.
I need to stop repeating words. “I” is the word I am most guilty of over using. I hear it every group. I just can stop. (If you can tell I have used I 10 times in this alone.)
@1 year ago with 38 notesPrinting a chapter out for writers group.
Eating at Panera and getting some writing in.
Drinking a delicious peppermint white chocolate mocha at the Barnes & Nobel cafe while getting even more writing done.
Writers group! It’s the first time in two weeks that I have been there and I miss it!
@1 year ago with 25 notesThis got sent through my writers group email list ages ago. Finally watched it and thought it would be worth a share.
Happy writing!
