Just completed the last of my 2nd draft edits for Act 1 of my novel. The last two pages were a bit half assed as one of the edits was “more running, more panic, more stuff’ but the point is its done. 

Now comes the fun part of retyping all of this as my drop box account saved only non writing files because my life is filled with first world problems.

Chapter 5 is edited

Yeah, it still needs work. But they are things I can’t change until I reread the next few scenes. So, for the time being Chapter 5, check.

It’s almost 6k which is pretty much a spot on match for the last four chapters. So all around I’m feeling good. Sleepy, but good.

My novel is now 83k!

WOOOOOO!

My mood is the best it’s been in weeks. I feel so accomplished. Also I’m only halfway through chapter 4 edits. Imagine how many more words I can add!

Blam

Banging right through this editing. Ed Sheeran has been a huge help. I’ve cut out a good chunk of words which was needed as this short story was getting closer to novella status. I’m going to bring in a few copies of this bad boy to group tonight to pass out. Hopefully some of my writing buddies will be willing to help me with final edits.

Also, I’m going to eat a cheese burger and buy Unwind to celebrate.

Oh, hey…

I forgot to tell you. I finished revising chapter 3 on Wednesday. Working on 4, with hopes of finishing it this weekend.

It’s just over 5k and what used to be the first 8 chapters are now three. The book is currently 

WHAT!!!! Sorry, just checked the novel is OVER 80,000 WORDS!!!!

New goal, 85k.

Added 799 words

In just once scene. Feeling pretty darn good about it.

Yeah, I guess I’ll go to work now. 

Chapter 2 is now a revised draft!

It is 3,452 words. It’s over 2000 words less then then chapter 1. Which I’m iffy about, but I’m not going to worry about that right now.

Editing Update…

Added another 500 words, well 400 something, but close enough.

It’s getting better. I’m adding more than I am taking away. I’m making the world stronger. I’m sure as hell making it creepier. I’m liking my MC more. I like her mother less (happy mothers day). And I have added reason to why her father does what he does and it’s all valid.

Uhmagawed guys. I love writing. I love this book. 

Today, I have plans

I am about to run out of this house. Only slowing down to get a coffee. Then I am off to work, on my day off, but it is needed. Then to Barnes & Noble to make up this horrible word count in my nano.

In other news

I have finished chapter 4! I actually had three other scenes that I was planning on including in this chapter, but the first two have brought it over the 6k mark. So I figured I’ll cut it off there.

My novel is now 83,202 words. Yeah. It feels good.

I’m also fantasy planning my London vacation. No idea if I could actually do it. But… Any ideas? Places to visit?

Short story: Edited.

Feels so good. Now, I just need to get this query letter set. Let’s see if we can get some work going on that.

Today’s Goal:

Have my super happy totally upbeat (not at all, it’s tragic) short story edited and the revised draft sent out to my writers group for final edits. 

Also, I’m really angry that today is the day I forget my headphones in the car. The same day the guy with cold and a preferably to making that horrible “snngh” noise instead of just blowing his damn nose.

You sir, will end up in my novel. And I might just break that damn thing.

999 words added…

So far in chapter three… which is good. It’s a chapter with a lot of important events, but I didn’t write a lot of detail the first time around.

I am really enjoy the writing, but more importantly I’m enjoying changing the Scrivener tabs from “first draft” to “revised draft.”

Motivations. I have them.

Chapter Two. This time I mean it.

So, I “finished” editing chapter two a little while ago. And I thought it was short then, and I started chapter three which was even shorter. So I thought… Why not combine them? 

So, with edits my novel is now 77,825 words!

Chapter two is 5,797 words and I like most of them. The first two chapters are what was originally the first 5 chapters. They equal over 10k of the words and I think I’m going to print them out and give them to the best friend to proof read. PROGRESS!

I have four hours left at work, and it’s the slowest day here as it is an American holiday. Lets see if we can make a dent in chapter three, shall we? Chocolate bar first…

Chapter One

Is now a revised draft. I took chapter one and two, and a scene from chapter three  and made them all chapter one. My novel is now 75,825 words. Which means I added 2,118 words. Wow. That’s a nice feeling.
