I am a would be, wanna be, wish I was writer. Young adult, specifically.
This is the place I keep the things I love, as most do. The things that make me laugh, inspire me, and, most importantly, keep me writing.
I am a procrastinator, a nerdfighter, and a coffee addicted receptionist.
Some at my writers group say I should hold off on edits a little while. A month or so to let my brain focus on something new and come back with a fresh perspective.
I see the good in that.
But I also really want to work on cleaning it up a ways so I can give it out to be peer reviewed.
What are your opinions?
@1 year ago with 2 notesI have about four major events left in this book. I want to get them onto the page as fast as I can. And because of this I’m really abandoning quality. I know this is a first draft, so I am really trying to keep that in mind. I keep saying I’ll fix it later. But when I type things like “She turned to face the space where he had been, and he wasn’t there.” I really just want to slap myself.
Inner monologue: First drafts are terrible. Remember this, Rachel. Remember this.
I’m just really trying to keep my main thoughts on how proud I am of myself. I have never written so much on one story and, honestly, how can I expect my first draft of my first full novel to be any sort of good.

What?! Yeah!
Two iced lattes and two hours in a Starbucks. Bam. And I like it. I really like it. I just finished the start of a really horrible moment for the MC. The first terrible moment that sets off the ending to the first book. I’m amazed and terrified. And I’m sooooo happy that I like it this much and it’s the first draft.
And if I don’t leave for work now I’m going to be late.
@1 year ago with 3 notesBecause it’s my birthday! This isn’t a self indulgent post trying to get my friends and followers on here to wish me a happy birthday. This is a post about a resolution for my new year.
I started my dystopian about seven months ago. It is coming along very well. (42k if you remeber) I think by this time next year I’m going to have the novel out for submissions. I don’t think that’s a lofty goal. Honestly it scares the hell out of me to submit, even just the idea. But i’m going to do it. Hold me to that.
Oh, I blog guys. Also for my new year I’m going to (hopefully) start posting regularly. Mostly about writing and book reviews, but a little about life will seep in. Feel free to check it out.
Now I’m off to bake cupcakes.
